MY LITTLE CUTIE

This is my dog Roxie, doing her favorite thing. Her second fav thing is snuggling. She whines for whatever she wants and when you say "show me" she leads you to it. She will try to trick you and lead you to the "treat" pantry many times. She only gets one treat a day, but she tries!

She is VERY spoiled!

FEELING GOOD BEING CREATIVE AGAIN!

I've been drawing and painting a couple of things. I also went to Staples and found out Bristol board comes in colors. I only knew of white. Am I living in the dark ages, or what? It isn't as smooth as the white though, so it remains to be seen how it works. It almost feels like regular cardstock. If you have used it, I would appreciate comments. I also bought some water soluble oil pastels. I have never cared for oil pastels, but I thought I would try these. I wonder if they are sort of like Max oils?

I am almost completely out of watercolor paper too, and really wanting to try hot pressed. Can't find it anywhere around here. Guess I will have to order it from Dick Blick or ???? Any suggestions? Anyhow, these drawings are what I have been creating. They are Micron pen and w/c, titled Mother Earth and Mother Bird Celebrate New Life - heehee do you think I'm pushing Spring? --and Dance of the Sea Nymph - inspired by LisaO's dream.

Noooo, I haven't put my Christmas stuff away yet; been procrastinating. I just.....sort of.....don't look at it. Tomorrow for sure! ;)

SAY GOODBYE

Say Goodbye to the Christmas Cards, to the Twig Tree, to all the cutsie little decorations like Tweetie and Woodstock, the glitter parrot, the window candles, the wreath. Going back into their box home until next season. It was a nice Christmas. New Year's Eve should be quiet, and 2007 is expected to be wonderful! More ideas flourish already, more art to be created, more love to feel for everyone, and gratitude for what I have and for the friends - especially GPS - I have made this past year. I am excited and looking forward to what the new year may bring! Today, although cold, the rain has stopped and the sun shines brightly! A good omen? Blessings to those in need of them.

A Christmas Gift

This was my gift. I went to the front yard Christmas Eve for fresh air. Ms. Bunny was there resting peacefully. Ms. Bunny had babies in my back yard 3 times, until she moved on. I was so happy to see her here, even if it's really one of her many children. Thank you Bunny, for visiting.

WHAT LOVE AND CARING CAN DO

A couple of years ago I visited my sister in North Carolina. I got to stay with her for a week at her job. She is a group home manager at Holy Angels, at Belmont Abbey in Belmont, NC. Holy Angels does wonderful things for children, and cares for them even as adults. One of the residents there is Cheryl. I met Cheryl while I was there for that heavenly week. (Such a peaceful place). Cheryl is a sweet person, and at the time she was working in the gift shop. BTW that gift shop has the most decadent candy baskets, and the cafe next door has heavenly food - no pun intended- but it is!!! Anyway, this year I got a Christmas card from my dear sister, and it was this angel card above, that Cheryl made. I am sooooooooo happy for her! I have told my sister that if Cheryl needs any art supplies at all, let me know and I will see that she gets them. I had no idea while I was there, that Cheryl could draw and paint like this! It's wonderful! It's magical! It's a gift from God. And I wanted to share it here. Also, if you would like to know more about Holy Angels, please visit their website at www.holyangelsnc.org It's truly an angelic place. May Peace be your gift at Christmas.

The Snowbirds Have Arrived

Once again, the newest members of the Whooping Crane flock have followed the ultra light from Wisconsin to Florida, where they will get conditioned for a fall migration back, and hopefully think about having babies to increase the flock. This is done every year to teach the newest birds how to migrate, and to help bring these wonderful large birds back from near-extinction. Around here, this is ALMOST as exciting as a Discovery lift-off! For a more complete story, http://www.rrstar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061220/NEWS0107/112200044/1004/NEWS Now, I MUST start concentrating on my art again!!!

PERSON OF THE YEAR AWARD

I am so glad to know that TIME MAGAZINE has voted ME for their PERSON OF THE YEAR Award. Little ol' ME! How nice to be recognized as a part of our great forward movement in this world. And they also voted for YOU, and YOU, and YOU.... Sadly, I Googled some info about it and I could not believe the negative comments I read......from people just like us. Well, not like me becuz I am happy about it....but I just don't understand WHY anyone would be so negative. I refuse to be negative, I accept it with honor, and now......

..I am going to go to my drawing table and get busy because I have been long lagging with my creativity.

Oh, hey, wow, have you heard about Nicci? Check out her blog www.brushedwithmagic.com/blog/ ...This artist has been working hard and it is beginning to come together for her. She got a commission to put her art in a designer house! CONGRATS NICCI!!! ...And...I'll be watching for you with that little cutie, Howie Mandel. I have a feeling you are going to get in!

MY CHARLIE BROWN TREE

I had decided this year to not put up a Christmas tree, since the spirit of the season seemed to be escaping me. But after I displayed the Christmas cards we received, put candles in the window and a wreath on the door, it felt like something was missing. I still wasn't too enthused on putting up a tree, because we are looking for new LR furniture and my LR is a little bare right now, as I have got rid of most of the old large pieces. A Christmas tree with no couch? It didn't seem right! Then I thought of the couple of stick trees I had seen on blogs. Colette has one, and I forget who else; maybe I am thinking of Oceandreamer with her treasure tree. Anyhow, I decided to make a stick tree. So.....here is our "Charlie Brown Christmas Stick Tree". We really like it. DH had to hold up a tablecloth behind it so I could get pics. It has little birdies, fake lights, dh's small collection of Tweetie bird and Woodstock, a peacock feather, the smallest of ornaments I could find in the garage, and it is all stuck in a large crystal vase with glass pebbles to hold it in place. Around the bottom is a mosaic birdhouse I made some time ago (for the birds in the stick tree, of course), and if you look close you can see my prized possession, my Christmas chunky book! We are really happy with our stick tree! NOW, it feels like Christmas.

WORTH LOOKING AT!

Check out this video (sound on please) The introduction is in French, but the performance is AWESOME! http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xf9oo_jerome-murat

OMG ABOUT ME DON'T EVEN READ THIS

I came to this self-portrait in a roundabout way. I visited Tinker (check my sidebar links) and she pointed in my direction to do a Six Wierd Things About Me meme (Tinker, I was NOT holding up my hand waving "pick me, pick me!") . Of course, I am NOT wierd, (like maybe she is), but anyhow I said I would do it. Meanwhile, I linked from Tinker to Roadchick who linked me to a site that told me what kind of Tarot card figure I am. So now I know I am a Hermit, and I kind of agree with that. I have always been a loner type. Apparently the Hermit is full of prudence, caution, deliberation.....yep, that's me! (Now I ask you, is THAT wierd??) The Hermit also retires from participation in current events. Yep, that's me, the Loner. The Hermit (so it says) is also a card of introspection (yep), analysis (definitely) and virginity (WHAT???) Hermits do not socialize (well, not much), and desire peace and solitude. (RIGHT ON!!) It says Hermits prefer to take the time to think, organize, ruminate (nope, omit that one!), and take stock. (Uh, huh). Hermits feel frustration and discontent (oh yeah!!!), but this leads to enlightenment, illumination and clarity. (Well, ok if you say so but when does this happen?) Hermits also represent a wise, inspirational person, friend, teacher, therapist; a person who can shine a light on things that were previously mysterious and confusing. (Yeah, man! Shine on, brother!) So, ok, here goes.

SIX WIERD THINGS ABOUT ME. (Besides being a Hermit AND spelling wEIrd wierd. How weird)

1. I asked dh and he said I'm a Freaky Ol' Lady

2. I have a soft heart for birds. I like birds better than a lot of people. BIRDS RULE!

3. I am legally blind in one eye, but you would never have known if I didn't tell you. (I do find it difficult to draw a straight, horizontal line without a ruler). Well, even WITH a ruler some times! The ruler must be crooked. I was cross-eyed as a kid and teased a lot by other kids until it was fixed. Children can be cruel.

4. I am fascinated by streetsweepers. (Where does the dirt go?)

5. I believe that money CAN buy happiness! Give me yours, I'll prove it! You may not be happy but I will!

6. I'm thinking....I'm thinking.....I'll have to get back to you...

If you are reading this and have not done this, YOU ARE TAGGED! LOL See how wierd I am? :)

STILL AMAZING, AFTER ALL THESE YEARS

Last night Discovery made a night-time launch, the first night lift-off in four years. I watched the count-down on tv, and as soon as they said "...and we have lift-off", I ran really fast to the front yard, and in about 2 seconds THERE IT WAS!!! The sky to the east lit up like a GIANT ball of fire. Considering I am a couple of hundred miles from the Cape, I was amazed at the vastness of it, the brightness. All I could say was "WOW!!!" And I heard some of my neighbors down the street, in the dark, saying..."WOW!!!" Too cool!! And eight minutes later, way out of sight, they were in orbit. I wish them a safe trip and a safe return in 12 days. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

FOR LISA...........

And the memory will live on......

A PRAYER FOR A FRIEND PLEASE

Please just say a little prayer for Lisa Oceandreamer that she can keep her strength in this time of great sadness in her life as her mom begins her journey towards total peace.

THE BOAT PARADE

LAST NIGHT WAS VERY PLEASANT. DH AND I WENT TO A CHRISTMAS RECEPTION AT THE ART CENTER, (AND WATCHED OTHER PEOPLE GET DOOR PRIZES AND ART AWARDS...LOL) HAD GOOD CONVERSATION AND GOOD FOOD. THEN...TA DA......WE WENT TO THE BOAT PARADE! THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE EVENING. THE WEATHER WAS ABSOLUTELY WONDERUL, WITH WARM BREEZES KISSING MY SOUL AND LAPPING THE DARK WATER AGAINST THE SEAWALL! NEXT TO WHERE WE WERE WAS THE AMERICAN LEGION AND LET ME TELL YOU THOSE PEOPLE CAN PARTY!!! THERE WAS WHOOPING AND HOLLERING AND LAUGHING AND THEY WERE HAVING SUCH A GOOD TIME! THANKFULLY, WHEN THE PARADE STARTED, THEY ALL GOT QUIET. I BET THEY ALL HAVE HANGOVERS TODAY. ANYWAY, WE WERE RIGHT BY ONE OF THE BRIDGES AND I TRIED TO GET PICS OF IT OPEN AS THE BOATS WENT THROUGH, BUT IT WAS JUST TOO DARK. SO HERE ARE SOME OF THE PICTURES I GOT OF THE BOATS AS THEY PARADED BY IN ALL THEIR CHRISTMAS FINERY, COMPLETE WITH THE PINELLAS COUNTY SHERIFF TAKING UP THE REAR, WITH HIS BLUE LIGHT FLASHING (AND OF COURSE RUINING MY PICTURE!) IT WAS A WONDERFUL EVENING.
