SAD,,,

This is Bobby. Enlarge the picture below to see him better. He is a partially blind falcon who escaped from the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary at the beach last Tuesday evening when we were having high wind gusts. He has lived there for several years. Apparently he was being transferred to another cage and a gust of wind blew him from the arm of the person handling him. He flew, and he is still wearing his tether (called a jesse). Friday he was spotted trying to get into someone's screened pool enclosure and is still wearing his leather straps. The location he was seen tells me he has crossed the intracoastal waterway and is now on the mainland. Bobby was rescued from someone who was not treating him well, and his life has been to educate school children about the American Kestrel. Please, think positive thoughts for Bobby, that he can be found before it's too late. Being a bird lover, this is really bothering me and I pray for his safe return. Thanks.

Sorry to hear this about this lil guy. He's already had a tough enough life. We can only pray he allows himself to be helped.

Not that long ago I saw an escaped falcon and tried to rescue it. He sat beside the road entangled in it's straps. Unfortunately he flew away and even though I called the local falconry, he has never been seen since.

Thanks for visiting my blog. Perhaps you just have to higher the volume on your computer. This has happened before with someone who tried to listen.

Keep in touch. :-)

Oh, keep me posted on Bobby. I love American Kestrels...well all birds, really, but falcons and hawks the best. Poor guy, we know he's imprinted on humans and can't stay in the wild. :(
